The Medicaid health plan program for adults 65 or older and adults 21 or older with disabilities. Last reviewed: .
What is it?
STAR+PLUS is a Medicaid program that works through health plans. It is for adults 65 or older and adults 21 or older with disabilities. People who also have Medicare can be in STAR+PLUS. Your plan gives you a service coordinator who helps you get the services you need at home, such as personal assistance (PAS).
STAR+PLUS HCBS (also called the STAR+PLUS Waiver)
The STAR+PLUS Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) program, often called the STAR+PLUS Waiver, is for people who would otherwise need a nursing home. It can include protective supervision for people with memory problems or physical weakness, and respite (a break for the family) of up to 30 days per plan year.
